My name is Christina Theisen and I am here to support Your HEALING. Do you feel disconnected? Not in touch with your Body? Has a crisis caught you? Are you ready to change your life?

Whatever moves you now, it may be the right time to RE-connect with yourself; your power, your joy, your potential  - to enjoy life more. feel free to reach out. You are welcome and to ask for support in your journey.

As a CHI NEI TSANG practitioner i apply a true holistic approach. I am dedicated to help you connect with your nature, your feelings, your core.

First of all I studied the allopathic field of Physiotherapy in 1999. Fascinated studying the body, graduated. Being involved in the allopathic rhythm of fixing, i could only bare for a moment of my life, I found myself uncomforted  and choose better not to support this way. Studying art in London, exploring life, humans and our shared landscapes through my vision with a lens, the body, human presence and surrounds, the mirror in all remains to be a powerful source for my uncovering experience. Beauty in transition to life seems my subject. Courage and curiosities continued leading my way. I found dance as a passion and practice which catalysed my connection with (my) true nature . In motion, being in the now I explore a simple and deep journey in truth. I continued following my passions, travels and residences world wide, then Chi Nei Tsang brought me home to London, then Berlin. Now, if with dance, with presence or with Chi Nei Tsang, it's my daily practice to be stepping into Healing. And I want to share it with you.

“Chi Ni Tsang’s power lies in working from the center toward the outside by focusing on the abdomen and the naval area. Bringing awareness to the internal organs of the body through touch and breath.”

It’s my pleasure to be here for you, to support your healing. I believe when you are ready to show up for your situation, whether manifested physically, emotionally, or spiritually, Chi Nei Tsang can bring healing from within and support you to step into the change you wish to see in your life. You will learn the power of self-healing. So you can enjoy life better.

Christina_Theisen

As a CONTAKIDS teacher I found a method through physical movement and play that i passionately share. It’s my wish to support the growth of healthy humane relationships between children and parents for example. I wish for their cultivation of body awareness, mutual respect, trust and confidence, so all can be relating as responsible human beings. And be equipped better for life.

I work in one on one sessions, as well as hold groups.

My third passion is MOON MOMENTS, supporting young people who identify as women in their transition time from being a girl to be a woman. I hold monthly gatherings where we connect, share and nourish. This period in life is an essential transition time to cultivate confidence in body and self, empowerment, leadership, sensuality in relation to life and being. No taboos. Together we learn the enjoyment in seeking support and sharing nourishment with other young “women”.  Topics we invite into the space are trust, body celebration, responsibility, women wisdom, sexuality and interconnectedness.

Chi Nei Tsang

M.R.

I had the luck and the privilege of enjoying 5 Chi Nei Tsang sessions with Christina last summer. I had just started a new job and when I met her I felt frustrated and oppressed, as I couldn't find a balance between work life and "my" life. The treatment helped me deepen my self-awareness in terms of emotional energy and body response to it. Christina showed me a path of self-love and healing that I will keep following, cherishing her wise, heartfelt advice. When I think  of the time spent together with her, I visualize a safe place of light and warmth. I can never thank her enough for how she helped me through this healing process. The way is still long, but I feel much better now.

Chi Nei Tsang

What is Chi Nei Tsang?

Chi Nei Tsang is applied Chi Kung, the Art of Abdominal Massage.  CNT is a treatment for the vital organs from the ancient Taoist system for detoxifying and rejuvenating the internal organs.

Chi Ni Tsang’s power lies in working from the center toward the outside by focusing on the abdomen and the naval area. From here we clear blockages in the body’s energy flow to start healing from within.

Benefits of Chi Nei Tsang

Through focusing on the abdomen, Chi Nei Tsang brings about healing from within, from the center, the roots, the origin of life itself. This abdominal massage, in its modern context, works in four main ways:

  • Detoxifying. Chi Nei Tsang manipulations help relieve the body of excess stagnation. It improves elimination, stimulates the lymphatic and the circulatory systems, and strengthens the immune system’s resistance to diseases. In doing so it helps achieve optimal results in other health care modalities; for example, clients using it before and after surgery recover more quickly and easily.
  • Restructuring and strengthening. By addressing the visceral structures and positioning of internal organ, Chi Nei Tsang stimulate them, and corrects postural problems resulting from visceral imbalances and congestion in the structural pattern of fascia. It releases deep-seated tensions  and restores vitality. Chi Nei Tsang has been helpful with chronic pain in the back, neck and shoulder pains and problems related to misalignment of the feet , legs and pelvis.
  • Balancing Emotions  Unprocessed emotions are stored in the digestive system waiting to be addressed . Poor emotional digestion is one of the main reasons  for ill health. Chi Nei Tsang allows emotions to unfold , making it possible for individuals to evolve and grow. Chi Nei Tsang has been successfully used in combination with Psychotherapy
  • Bringing Self-awareness. Each of us is responsible for our own health. Several practices help receivers know themselves.  Fundamental Choi Nei Tsang self-help manipulations and techniques improve breathing. The diet and other related lifestyle matters are areas to consider improving upon. Visualisation and meditation practices enhance effects of manual treatments.

EXTRACT OUT OF THE BOOK : HEALING FROM WITHIN WITH CHI NEI TSANG BY GILLES MARIN

…Chi Ni Tsang’s power lies in working from the center toward the outside by focusing on the abdomen and the naval area. The lower abdomen is the very center of the body, the place from which breath and movement originate. It’s the structural center of gravity and the center of metabolic processes such as digestion, detoxification, and energy processing . In traditional Oriental Medicine and martial arts this center, called the  aura in Japanese, or tauten in Chinese, is believed to be the bodies center of energy, the powerhouse where vital energy originates.”

The abdominal area, with the internal organs and their internal structures, holds the secrets of a person: things we hide from ourselves. The body holds all kinds of strategies for addressing conflict, personal history, personality, tendencies. Thus, the abdominal structure holds the secret of the future, of a person’s life purpose. Any deviation from that purpose brings us in direct conflict with ourselves and causes illness. When practitioners work on the structure of client’ naval and are able to localise tensions and obstructions, they are also putting clients in touch with the direction of their lives. Chi Nei Tsang helps people to reconcile internal conflicts that prevent self realisation and self manifestation.

Through focusing on the abdomen, Chi Nei Tsang brings about healing from within, from the center, the roots, the origin of life itself. …

What does a treatment look like?

Please plan 1.5h-2h in for the first session for calm arriving, approximately 1.5h for the following. A treatment starts with a conversation between you and me. Hearing your health history and any current health matters you wish to address is of genuine value to your process and helps me as a practitioner to support you. Everything can be relevant, so please feel free without inhibitions to share. In Chi Nei Tsang I am trained with a holistic approach, that means considering all aspects of your physical and emotional state of being, which together connect and relate to your whole being.

Plan to wear comfortable clothing and eat and drink normally before your appointment - please do not fast.

I will help you to be comfortable on a massage table, using pillows and bolsters to support you.  Mostly you will be lying on your back with the area from your ribcage to the top of your pelvic area exposed by opening your clothing. Feel free to ask for the temperature in the room to be adjusted to your comfort, or for a blanket or more pillows.  Your constant comfort is most important.

I will begin the session with mild and precise touches to your abdomen to discern the best way to help you feel better. You will be guided to mindfully without effort breath into the areas worked with. You may experience a deep sense of relaxation and re-connection with yourself on a physical and emotional level during the treatment. The treatment will last approximately one hour; you may even fall asleep, and this too is part of the therapeutic experience. I will conclude the treatment by giving you advice and simple self-care exercises that you can do at home to support and maintain your well-being.

What conditions does Chi Nei Tsang address?

It is important to emphasize that I do not treat symptoms, nor does Chi Nei Tsang attempt an allopathic cure for illness. Like my teacher said: ” We don’t heal diseases, we support the healing in people.”  Meaning, Chi Nei Tsang addresses the whole person, regarding no difference between the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of healing or well-being.

In that way, Chi Nei Tsang can be of particular benefit to some of the more unmanageable modern problems, such as sleep disorders, challenges to fertility, digestive disorders, nervous disorders such as anxiety and depression, musculoskeletal problems of undetermined origin, and autoimmune disorders such as Lupus and chronic fatigue. Additionally, Chi Nei Tsang can help to speed healing from injury or trauma, including obstetrical and surgical trauma.

Again, Chi Nei Tsang does not attempt to treat symptoms or cure an illness; rather it is a system designed to set up for change by bringing awareness to the internal organs of the body, therefore inducing the body to heal. In that way, Chi Nei Tsang addresses every condition of a person, whether manifested physically, emotionally, or spiritually.

Contakids

CONTAKIDS is a group that gathers for movement practice, partnering games and play shared between adult and child. No special experience is required. With passion and full presence at play I will be guiding you through your time.  CONTAKIDS is where a deeper and enjoyable form of communication between adult and child is developed.

Tactility is a fundamental sensory experience of our environment. As children, we discover the world through our physical senses. We have five senses and there is a tendency for senses like vision and hearing to become the dominant channels to our intellect and imagination.

CONTAKIDS invites you to explore your sense of touch and rediscover the skin and body language as one of your greatest communication tools.

CONTAKIDS is unique in it’s offering in remembering children are experts at play.

What parents should know

  • Please arrive 10 minutes earlier for calm landing and bring comfortable clothes for movement.
  • Bring patience. Every child has their own timing to get into play and their place of comfort within a group.
  • Bring presence and curiosity . Try leave expectations and goals at home and make space for discovery.

How does the practice look like?

• Program: 45 minutes practice + 15 minutes free movement and cuddles

• Routine entails warm up for adults, partner games, group and duo dynamics

• We dance, we slide and swoop, we go upside down, roll, jump, fall and run. Both Adult and child can expect to be challenged, make friends and have a lot of fun.

• Unlike most classes for kids, the adult is as much a part of the scenario as the Little One - taking full advantage of the special adult / child bond present at this stage in a child's life

Contakids is an invitation for parents and children to play together. Contakids opens a door to us, to meet the happy, playful child we used to be.
— Itay Yatuv

Benefits of CONTAKIDS

• Bonding as parent and child ,discovering a deeper form of communication that both find enjoyable, through movement, working with the body, and physical contact.

• Children enhance and improve their motor skills and self-confidence, while parents build a bond of trust between their child and themselves.

• Children learn self-reliance and develop an independent spirit, and parents learn to interact with them as equals that they support unconditionally.

What possibilities physical play between the adult and their child can contain is a continuous exploration, an unlimited experimentation.

ContaKids_DSC_6899_1_1.jpeg

Here are some observations found

The best form of learning is experience, and failure is a key aspect of this process; let the child encounter everything, while minimally protecting them; allow the child to fall as much as possible, for it has a crucial impact; aim to understand where they could really get hurt and interfere specifically; the rest is mithin the range of important experimentation.

  • As adults often cuddle or hold, the child becomes accustomed to being passive, and feeling heavy; instead, when the child is the one responsible for being off the ground, then they are active, holding themselves, and aware of the possibilities available to them on the bodily terrain of the adult.

  • When the adult refrains from using their hands to keep the child on their body, they develop motor skills by finding new angles and positions to stop the little one from slipping off; the ability to sense and receive information through the skin is awakened, so one becomes acutely aware of the child’s exact location on themselves, the manner in which the child is staying in place and the position that they are in, be it upside down or on their side.

  • Adults tend to act on the child—pick up, turn over, and so on—although the environment is stimulating enough for them to discover what deserves their attention; the desire to create a “pleasant encounter” causes one to work in a very narrow manner that focuses on a specific goal and misses out on other opportunities out there; instead practice setting the child’s interests apart from the experience that the adult wants them to have.

  • Dancing together places the roles of adult and child on an equal footing; each has the freedom to choose their next move and nothing is forced upon the other; the child develops their independence with the support of the parent, allowing for a more open physical movement.

HOW THE IDEA WAS BORN?

It began from the attention garnered by a short video (above) captured by chance by Aaron Brando during the Ibiza Contact Festival in 2011. In it, ContaKids founder Itay Yatuv is seen with his daughter, Sophie. While on her way to bed in her pyjamas, with mommy and her pacifier, she ran into a tent where her father was participating in a movement jam session.

The footage of the toddler girl thoroughly enjoying the interaction with Itay aroused much curiosity about how parents can increase physical contact with their kids, and also unwittingly invited them to jump into the happy waters of play and free dance with their little offspring.

In the past three years, Itay worked on developing the methodology that he calls ContaKids, designing it for children aged from two to four and their parents, to share dance and physical play based on various foundations of Contact Improvisation. Through leading dozens of after-school programmes, he has motivated parent-child pairings to roll and jump—around and on each other— and helped them learn to breathe, listen, make choices and compromise, together.

The response from the parents and children who have participated has been wonderful and encouraging to Itay. It has also been a inspiring learning experience, far beyond his expectations when he began it all.

Itay Yatuv is the founder of Contakids – my teacher. Artistic director of the Hakvutza Dance School in Jaffa, Tel Aviv, Itay has been practicing and internationally teaching Contact Improvisation for over 10 years to professional and amateur dancers. He trained as a contemporary dancer in New York, Italy and Israel. Choreographing independently, Itay has lead many international projects of improvisational performances.

Moon Moments

It’s a gathering, a space for young people that identify as women. We meet once a moon. It’s a time for supporting our sense of nourishing, to support the transition time that you are currently in or you are approaching. The transition from being a girl to womanhood – a new phase of your life. Transition of welcoming the crazy time you might feel, surpassing current emotions in a healthy way. A transition for receiving the changes in your body, for welcoming your sexuality. Here is a space where we share, connect, see and hear each other. It’s a space for celebration of sisterhood, for care and support in full safety for the heart to grow open. We learn together.
